CIFAR conference XXXIII

Global Partnerships for Success
Application period Apr 05, 2014
from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM
Where RMI Silverado Sensory Theater

Date: April 5th 9:00am

Location: RMI Silverado Sensory Theater

California’s food and agricultural sector extends beyond its borders to encompass a vibrant, ever evolving network of global enterprises that offer clear opportunities for those who can navigate its complex terrain effectively.  These include the ability to produce and deliver safe, flavorful, nutritious, culturally acceptable and affordable foods in varying formats to a diverse consumer base.   Partnerships, technologies, location-specific policies and culture, plus effective distribution systems, are key in connecting the dots that constitute this value chain.  Academic-industry-government programs, scientific-logistic venues and governmental policy directives combine to provide the framework for these partnerships.

This conference will facilitate conversations on select collaborative platforms that are focused on meeting the challenges facing an expanding and more diverse global population by capitalizing on both current and emerging opportunities arising in various quarters.  These include the demands for safe, culturally appropriate food, and also challenges arising from the changes in population patterns and demographics as a consequence of increased industrialization in the developing world, rural-to-urban migration and immigration, all in the context of rapidly aging populations in the developed world. Further challenges requiring solutions are linked to the availability of resources needed to address our global society’s future food needs.

Participants are encouraged to meet the speakers and engage in lively discussion in this one-day conference and networking event.
